Southeast Texas Senior Volunteer Opportunity – Become a Hospice Care Giver
Guide to Southeast Texas Volunteer Options
Become a Harbor Hospice Volunteer
Are you looking for a special Southeast Texas senior volunteer opportunity?
It takes a very special, caring person to give of themselves as unselfishly as a hospice patient care volunteer.
Hospice volunteers may do a number of important tasks that range from assisting in office work to being there at a dying patient’s bed side.
If you’d like to be a part of the Harbor Hospice volunteer team, here are some examples of the activities you can assist with:
- Reading to a patient
- Holding a hand
- Staying with a patient while family members take a needed break or keep an appointment
- Shopping or doing errands for a patient
- Listening to a senior talk about their lives, what made them happy, and fears
- Helping patients write, video, or tell their life stories
- Cooking, performing light household tasks
- Providing help with personal grooming, such as makeup and hair
- Assisting with bathing, shaving and other personal care
- Working with the patient on relaxing crafts or other hobby projects
